14 October 2009
Towns reserves got back to winning ways with a spirited 2nd half performance and 3 goals from Chris Lay to send Leiston to there first defeat of the season.
A first half that saw Town pegged back for the first 30mins, as Leiston were quicker and kept possession better, resulted in them taking the lead in the 13th minute when Towns defence failed to clear on the edge of the area and resulted in a fine looping shot to beat Ross just off his line. Further pressure from Leiston could have resulted in at least 2 more goals had they taken the chances.

Town went close when Goddard was closed down quickly by the on rushing Leiston keeper, and Lay went just wide with his header from a corner. As the half wore on, Town started to win more possession and on 40mins, a pass to Mayhew saw him flick on for Lay who used his pace to beat his marker and slide the ball home for 1-1 at HT.

The 2nd half brought changes on 55mins for Town with the introduction of Nicklin and Churchill. Town began to dominate in midfield and build down the right through the impressive Goddard. It was his cross on 61mins that the Leiston keeper failed to hold onto and Lay quick to respond, fired in for 2-1.

Town were now showing confidence on the ball and moving it quickly. On 70mins, the ball broke to Lay just outside the area in space, to turn and fire in low for 3-1. On 75mins, a good move again down the right from Goddard, found Mayhew and his 20yard looping shot beat the Leiston keeper for 4-1. The final 10mins saw Town switch off to let Leiston back into the game, who capitalised on this with 2 goals for a final score of 4-3.
