Stowmarket Res 4 Woodbridge Town Res 6

Both Woodbridge Town’s senior teams defied the sweltering heat to record their first pre-season victories on Saturday in the double-header at Stowmarket.

Stowmarket Res 4 Woodbridge Town Res 6

The reserves game took place first & was split into 3 periods of 30 minutes with Woodbridge racing into an early 2-0 lead through JOE YEARLY & JACK SEVERY.

When JACK LAWRENCE scored a 3rd goal early in the 2nd period, a rout was on the cards, but the game quickly changed shape as Stowmarket scored twice in three minutes. However, this was nothing compared to a crazy period of 3 goals in 3 minutes which followed as JACK SEVERY completed his hat-trick with an unstoppable volley & far post header in the 54th & 56th minutes, goals which were separated by a sensational free-kick for the home team.

The final period was more subdued as the pace understandably dropped, but there were two more goals of high quality with JOSH MAYHEW rounding off a terrific counter-attack & Stowmarket replying with a sublime 30 yard chip to round off the scoring.

Reserve Squad: Tom Ross, Ryan Stafford, James Baalham, James Wright, Andy Lawrence, Martin Bultitude, Matt Oxbrow, Joe Yearly, Sami Kriikulla, Josh Mayhew, Jack Severy, James Fulker, Ross Hutchings, Jack Lawrence & James Churchill.
