With a number of the reserve team regulars staying behind to train with the 1^st Team there was the chance for Manager, Clive Stafford, to look at some different players, including debutants Tom Lloyd, Mehmet Duzgun & Stefan Garrett & Polish right winger, Krzysztof Nita, who is currently on trial. Ben Hutton & Nathan Allison also made their 1^st pre-season appearances.

After an even opening 20 minutes, Long Melford took the lead when a whipped cross was glanced in off the far post with an equally impressive header. Woodbridge were level within 5 minutes though, as the Long Melford defence stepped up to catch Josh Mayhew offside as Liam Hillyard looked set to play him through, only for Hillyard to slide in STEFAN GARRETT instead & the 18 year old marked his debut with an emphatic 20 yard shot into the top corner.

The 2^nd half saw Woodbridge take complete control of the game while also seeming to be in a good physical condition. Garrett helped to create the goal, which put the visitors ahead, pressuring a defender into a heavy back-pass that the keeper struggled to control & KRZYSZTOF NITA was on hand to convert from close range. Within minutes it was 3-1, but whereas the 2^nd goal had an element of good fortune, this goal was of pure quality as James Fulker, Nita & Mayhew worked the ball from our penalty area to the centre circle before Hillyard delivered an exquisite 40 yard pass perfectly into the path of JOE YEARLY & he rounded the keeper & managed to squeeze the ball in from a seemingly impossible angle.

There were still occasional threats from the home team but Martin Bultitude & Hutton remained strong while Nathan Allison made two excellent saves, but it was no real surprise that Woodbridge rounded off the scoring, netting a further 2 goals towards the end as firstly STEFAN GARRETT tapped into an empty net following unselfish work by Yearly & great pressure from Mehmet Duzgun & then LIAM HILLYARD beat the home keeper to James Baalham’s diagonal pass & headed in from the edge of the penalty area.
