The only player not available this week was
Sophie Barham who unfortunately needs an
operation to repair her injury. Sophie is due to
have the operation Friday week (30th October)
and we all hope she has a very speedy recovery.
It was important to start this game sharp with
good movement and slick passing to counter the
team and pitch in front of us. As soon as the
game started we failed on every front. So we
were in for a long hard boring afternoon. I must
at this point say the long dry spell we have
encountered and the quality of match ball
supplied does nothing to improve matters. That
said it was the same for both sides. The game
was played with both defences pushing up
creating a playing area of about 70sm. The
deadlock was broken in the 27th min with a rare
period of sharp and incisive passing from the
back to front. This move culminated in Sami
Jones receiving that ball manufacturing a yard
of space and curling the ball past the keeper
into the net. This moment of quality was quickly
followed by a second goal. After winning a
corner the ball was delivered into the box and
for once we attacked the cross and Stacey Hadley
forced the ball over the line. At this point it
was anticipated that we may go on and take the
game away from Taverham. This proved to be a
false dawn and the half drew t a close with no
further score.
Half-Time 0-2
It was hoped that the second half would be an
improvement on the first. This was not to be the
case and there was also no further change to the
score line. Taverham only being two nil down
were still very much in the game and had they
shown a little more coolness in front of goal
the game might have gone to extra time. A game
that will not linger long in the memory although
we did keep another clean sheet and are in the
next round!
Full-Time 0-2 (Jones, Hadley)
