Woodbridge slipped into the
bottom three suffering a fourth home defeat of
the season. |
|
Wisbech gave the assistant
referee a busy afternoon, with a string of
speculative through balls whilst their speedy
full back Billy Smith proved too much of a
handful for the home back four. Smith delivered
a deep cross from the right to set up the opener
for the Fenmen after 10 minutes, left winger
Jordan Yong returning the delivery across the
six yard line to the feet of top scorer Scott
Cubberley who took his season's tally to seven.
Half an hour had passed before Woodbridge first
broke down the Wisbech defence, Jay Churchyard's
shot on target being blocked at the expense of a
corner, from which Chris Pratt directed an
effort the wrong side of the upright.
One minute before the interval Wisbech doubled
their lead, Cubberley crossing from the left to
provide the unmarked Smith a free header back
across Wilson in the town goal.
A bland second half petered out with little
worthy of note, Wisbech's resilient defence
stifling Woodbridge's ineffective attack on all
but two occasions when Churchyard, on the turn
shot wide and Dan Morphew mis-hitting Town's
best opportunity with only the keeper to beat.
