Woodbridge made the worst possible start to
their visit to Walsham as James Tathum stole the
ball from Town skipper Aaron Churchyard after
four minutes for a clear run at goal to shoot
past Adam Wilson.
The pitch, which looked in good
condition at the kick off, soon cut up and
severely hampered Woodbridge's already below
standard passing as they repeatedly surrendered
possession to the home side.
Glenn Snell had a half chance to
level the score but directed his shot straight a
Walsham keeper Duncan McAnally who subsequently
had what must have been one of his quietest
afternoons of the season.
After the interval Simon Head
rattled the Woodbridge upright and fired the
rebound into the side netting. On the hour
Woodbridge were two behind after losing
possession on the halfway line and Head raced
through Town's appeal for offside drawing Wilson
out to the right of his area before placing a
well directed chip into the town goal.
Wilson twice saved Woodbridge
from going further behind with two smart stops
and Ben Seaman forced McAnnally to do the same
on 65 minutes. From the clearance Town earned a
free kick near the left touchline and from
Seaman's out-swinging delivery to the opposite
side of the penalty area, Marcus Josiah put the
ball back into the six yard box for Churchyard
to score.
With twenty five
minutes still remaining, this should have
signalled the beginning of a Woodbridge revival
but town failed to step-up their work-rate or
their desire to deny Walsham any of their three
points. Woodbridge: Adam Wilson, Robbie Smythe
(Seb Brimstead 55), David Kempson, Gavin Frost,
Ben Miller, Aaron Churchyard, Marcus Josiah, Dan Morphew
(Josh Mayhew 55), Glenn Snell (Ben Goddard
80, Tom Trevivian, Ben Seaman.
