Woodbridge Town 1 Mildenhall Town 2
Saturday 8th August 2009
The Pace of Mildenhall's debut making striker Danny Partridge proved too hot to handle for Woodbridge's overworked defence.
It looked as though Mildenhall may live to regret their profligacy in front of goal in a barren first period when James Heathcote sidefooted the home team in front in the 50th minute after Luke Read and Ben Seaman combined to unlock the visitors' defence.

The lead lasted just seven minutes as Partridge, a summer signing from from Diss Town, raced clear to be brought down by goalkeeper Tom Ross and John Sands rammed home the resultant penalty.

Woodbridge, who lacked height and punch up front, were caught out again in the 74th minute when Partridge got goal-side of the defence and this time rounded Ross before picking his spot.

The result should have been even more emphatic, but Sands blazed a 95th minute spot kick high over the bar after Partridge had again been pulled down by Ross.

The young keeper had excelled himself twice in the first half to deny first Partridge when played in by the influential Foster's defence-splitting pass and then Foster's close-range diving header.

Woodbridge Team:
Tom Ross, Seb Brimstead, Grant Monaghan, Tom Trevivian, Arran Sheppard (sub Dan Ackland 80 mins), Ben Miller, Jordan Seaman, Luke Read, Ben Goddard, James Heathcote, Ben Seaman. Unused subs: Craig Stuart, Liam Scopes.
