A
familiar tale of spurned chances and gifting
their opponents the opening goal saw Woodbridge
return home from Mildenhall without reward.
The Woodpeckers were unfortunate
in losing Ben Seaman after three minutes with a
hamstring injury disrupting their 4-4-2 game
plan. Lone striker Josh Mayhew had two early
chances, one flashing across the face of goal,
and Glenn Snell missed a great opportunity late
in the first half, shooting straight at the
keeper from the edge of the 18 yard box when
faced with only him to beat. Mildenhall also
missed an early chance to take the lead, when
faced with only Adam Wilson to beat, an
ill-judged forward pass to a colleague saw the
finishing touch ruled out for offside.
Overall,
Woodbridge had the better of the goalless first
half but two half time substitutions and a
reshuffle put Mildenhall firmly in charge for
the second period. Aaron Churchyard was robbed
of the ball on halfway sending Luke Thurleborne
clear through to score the first. Aaron Turner
scored a second for the home side, before
Woodbridge conceded from a corner for the
umpteenth match running to give the Hall a
deserved 3-0 win. Woodbridge: Adam Wilson, Robbie Smythe, David Kempson,
Glenn Snell, Ben Miller (Grant Monaghan 65),
Aaron Churchyard, Marcus Josiah, Liam Scopes,
Josh Mayhew, Ben Seaman (Dan Morphew 3), Seb Brimstead
