Woodbridge Town 1 Leiston 3
Saturday 02 September 2009
TWO goals in the final seven minutes saw Leiston pick up all three points at Notcutts Park last night.

It was tough on Woodbridge who matched their opponents as the two sides served up an entertaining match in near-monsoon conditions.

Leiston went ahead after just seven minutes when Leon Ottley-Gooch rose highest to head home after keeper Adam Wilson had failed to punch clear Stuart Boardley’s free-kick.

Woodbridge were level just six minutes later when Jay Churchyard, who produced an impressive performance on his debut, played in Chris Lay and he rounded Jamie Stannard before scoring.
Woodbridge thereafter looked the more likely side to score, with Stannard making a couple of good saves, and Leiston made a double substitution at half time.

After an even second half it was the visitors who finished strongly, despite being down to ten men following a leg injury to Danny Cunningham.

Substitute Lee McGlone headed Leiston in front from Boardley’s deep free-kick before Michael Brothers’ netted a fine individual goal, cutting in from the right and scoring with a low shot inside the near post in the 90th minute to seal all three points.
