Woodbridge gained a valuable
three points with their third away win of the
season. |
|
The opening 45 minutes gave
onlookers at the Walks precious little to
discuss at half time with the exception of one
flying save from Town keeper Adam Wilson to deny
Lynn striker George Wilson's free shot at goal.
Ben Goddard twice delivered across the Lynn six
yard box to no avail whilst Town's back three of
Pratt, Stuart and Miller with supporting wing
backs Smythe and Monaghan, holding the upper
hand at the other end.
The game finally came to life on 70 minutes when
Lynn skipper Stephen Harvey let fly from 25
yards, his effort hitting the Woodbridge upright
and a within a minute Town responded with what
was to be the decisive moment of the afternoon.
Josh Mayhew lost his marker in the Lynn penalty
area taking the ball to the goal line before
delivering across the face of goal where Tom
Trevivian and Grant Monaghan were on hand to
simultaneously see the ball over the line.
Town should have finished the game two goals to
the good, Goddard had a clear run at goal but
lost his footing after stepping aside Lynn
keeper Tom Rix and Dan Morphew's strike from
distance ended narrowly the wrong side of the
crossbar.
