On Saturday Woodbridge visited Hamlet Croft with
Haverhill looking for their first win in five
matches and Woodbridge in nine and were beaten
3-1 by the home side and to cap a miserable day
Liam Scopes was dismissed in the 88th minute.
Rovers took the lead two minutes from the end of
a dire first half when a cross from Marc Abbott
took a deflection over Town keeper Rhodes
straight into the net. Things got worse for
Woodbridge midway through the second half when
Danny Shipton's innocuous free kick slipped
through the hands of Rhodes to double the Rovers
lead. Efforts to restore parity from Seb
Brimstead and Ben Seaman were foiled by crossbar
and post before Shaun Banham put the result
beyond doubt with four minutes remaining. Town
substitute Josh Mayhew completed the scoring
with a consolation goal for Woodbridge a minute
later. Referee Darren Flanagan ended a busy
afternoon after distributing six cautions by
dismissing Scopes from the field after his
assistant spotted the town midfielder aim a kick
at an opponent.
Woodbridge Team: Lewis Rhodes, Sebastian
Brimstead, Grant Monaghan, Ben Miller, Chris
Pratt, Aaron Churchyard, Marcus Josiah (Ben
Goddard 89), Liam Scopes, Glenn Snell (Joshua
Mayhew 63), Thomas Trevivian, Ben Seaman.
