Knott was carried off on a
stretcher and later had stitches inserted in a
deep cut just below the knee following a 55th
minute challenge with Marcus Josiah, who also
took no further part in the match.
Hadleigh brought on striker Chris
Cowan, whose right-wing corner five minutes
later went in off Chris Leys’ knee to put the
visitors in front.
Cowan then curled home a
superb shot from the edge of the area after 67
minutes to make it 2-0 before Chris Pratt’s
near-post header from substitute Chris Lay’s
corner halved the deficit just two minutes
later.
However, Hadleigh wrapped up
the points thanks to a fine goal on the
counter-attack, Leys finding Jermaine Harewood,
whose pin-point cross saw leading scorer Craig
Payne supply a measured first-time finish from
the edge of the area.
The second half was in direct
to contrast to a drab opening 45 minutes when
clear-cut chances were at a premium. Woodbridge
had looked the more likely to score, with Arron
Benstead forced into a couple of good saves from
Josiah and Jay Churchyard.
