Woodbridge Town Football Club
.
Ely City 1 Woodbridge Town 1 (aet)
Saturday 14 November 2009
A replay at Notcutts Park on Wednesday evening will decide whether the Woodpeckers or the Robins progress to the third round.
30 minutes of extra time was insufficient to settle this tie after the teams scored once each in the second half of normal time. The busiest men on the field in the opening half were the assistant referees as both sets of forwards were repeatedly caught offside whilst a howling wind saw free kicks, corner kicks and goal kicks going wildly astray.

Ben Seaman's inswinging corner was however judged perfectly by Liam Scopes who headed Town in front after 50 minutes but the lead was short lived as Town conceded a penalty after an Ely forward had punched a cross goalwards but was adjudged to have been pushed from behind. Adam Dalby converted the resultant spot kick.

The home side were reduced to ten men after striker Robbie Mason collected a second yellow card but held on despite Woodbridge's domination in both halves of extra time.

Adam Wilson, Robbie Smythe, Grant Monaghan, Sean Rea, Chris Pratt, Aaron Churchyard, Marcus Josiah, Liam Scopes, Ben Goddard, Josh Mayhew (Ben Miller), Ben Seaman

Referee Mr Andrew Tyne
