 PRE SEASON FRIENDLY MATCH

Ipswich Wanderers 0 Woodbridge Town 0
Tuesday 22nd July 2008
Woodbridge Town 1st team followed up their opening pre-season draw at Cornard with another stalemate & near-neighbours Ipswich Wanderers on Tuesday evening.

Much like at Cornard, Woodbridge dominated the game, playing some attractive free-flowing football, but once again failed to turn their superiority into goals & while there were many pleasing aspects of the evening, including the performances of new signings Gary Rose, Robbie Smythe, Craig Stuart, Liam Jennings & Liam Manning, the need for new firepower in attack was clear for all to see!

Mark Roper had the game’s best moment breaking out from defence & ending up on the end of a flowing move only to be denied by the home keeper’s legs. Paul Hart also forced a flying save from the Wanderers keeper, but mostly Woodbridge’s efforts at goal were from outside the penalty area & relatively harmless.

The defence marshalled by Roper & Stuart dealt ably with counter-attack threats & kept Rose reasonably redundant although he had to be aware on a couple of occasions.

Team: Gary Rose, Robbie Smythe (Stefan Marsh 74), Ben Miller (David Kempson 66), Liam Jennings (Jack Severy 74), Mark Roper, Craig Stuart, Paul Hart, Liam Manning (Liam Hillyard 89), Sami Kriikulla (Ben Seaman 64), Jonny Bickers & Liam Hillyard (Rob Bird 64)

Saturday sees us travel to Stowmarket for a double-header with both Reserve teams playing at 2pm, prior to the 1st Teams kicking off at 4pm.
