Town earn another good point in
the Easter Monday derby at Victory Road. |

Woodbridge reshuffled their pack
for the Easter Monday visit to Victory Road with
Craig Stuart returning to the heart of the
defence partnered by Aaron Churchyard deputising
for Chris Pratt. After three consecutive matches
Jordan Seaman was rested with Lewis Driver
returning to partner Glenn Snell in attack.
Woodbridge deserved their one goal lead at half
time given them by Paul Hart who cleverly lobbed
Jamie Stannard on 25 minutes after being on the
receiving end of a long ball from halfway
delivered by John Sargent. Leiston rarely
threatened Ryan Beal's goal and Churchyard in
defence dealt ably with all that came his way.
Ben Seaman earned a free kick which he took but
his effort was deflected into the arms of
Stannard and just before the break Hart headed
wide from Seaman's cross.
Spectators were left wondering if they were
watching the same game as the second half
commenced, after Leiston switched David Head and
Mark Lowe, Liam Manning took control of midfield
and from then on Leiston dominated. Within two
minutes a short corner resulted in the
equaliser, Manning's cross-shot finding its way
in at the near post and Stuart Boardley came
within a whisker of giving the home side the
lead, his free kick hitting the upright.
Both teams saw good opportunities to take a lead
go begging, Driver was put clear by Jack Severy
but his shot with the outside of his boot went
straight into Stannards arms and Boardly shot
wide from close range.
Woodbridge held on to earn another point which
saw them move above Harwich & Parkeston and
Kings Lynn Reserves with four games remaining,
the next being Tiptree United away on Saturday.
