Woodbridge Town 3 Harwich & Parkeston 1
Saturday 2nd May 2009
WOODBRIDGE gained the three points necessary to ensure their Premier Division status at the expense of Harwich & Parkeston in a tense encounter at Notcutts Park.

The result – combined with Norwich United’s surprise win at Histon Reserves – means Harwich have dropped into the bottom two.

The Essex side now face a nervous wait to find out whether that will mean relegation or not, their fate depending on whether Lowestoft or Needham accept promotion and/or Tiptree United move across to the Essex Senior League.

Jordan Seaman settled the home supporters nerves by scoring twice in the first half, first capitalising on a mix up between Harwich skipper Matt Stace and keeper Nathan Munson to stroke the ball into an unguarded net, then heading perfectly over Munson from a superb Lewis Driver delivery.

Simon Head replied for the visitors shortly before the interval, breaking free to lob the advancing Gary Rose, but Aaron Churchyard put the result beyond doubt 10 minutes after the break with a low drive from 20 yards.

Team: Gary Rose, John Sargent, Ben Miller, Aaron Churchyard, Craig Stuart, Chris Pratt, Oliver Canfer, Liam Scopes, Lewis Driver, Jordan Seaman, Ben Seaman. Used Subs: Glenn Snell, Paul Hart, Tom Trevivian.

Referee Mr Dean Appleby (Bourne)
