It has been a season with its
fair share of ups and downs and challenges but
one can never say our seasons are dull and we
still have the Churchman Cup semi-final at
Stonham Aspal to play on Tuesday.
Last Saturday high-flying Wroxham
visited Notcutts Park having secured 3rd place
during the week and a spirited display saw us
get our noses infront with Luke Read stabbing
home a Severy cross before we then conceded
straight away from the re-start in typical
fashion. However we were the better side in the
second half and Mark Roper foraged forward and
sent a beauty into the top corner after a
Churchyard pass to win us the game and he could
and perhaps should have scored a second not long
after with a left footed volley but the win was
welcome and our 1st in 9 games.
We then followed that up with
a narrow win over neighbours Wanderers who
deservedly took the lead midway through the
first half. O’Neill levelled matters before the
break before Ben Seaman secured the points in
atrocious conditions with a low right footed
drive.
On the same night our U14
Alliance side were coming through a Colchester
League Open Cup semi-final at Halstead Town
where they defeated a previously undefeated
Lexden Saints team by a 3-2 scoreline and the
team has to look forward now to 2 cup finals on
the same weekend. The 1st is at Stanway Rovers
on Saturday 10th in the Colchester Open Cup
before heading to Gainsboro Sports Centre on the
Sunday in the Suffolk Open Cup.
There is still plenty of football
to be played at Notcutts Park with the Omnico
Cup Final on Tuesday, Saul Cup on Wednesday and
we host the Suffolk F.A Primary Cup on the
Saturday. Those are followed the following week
by the Churchman Cup, Peel & Ross-Taylor Cups
and a Suffolk Schools U19 final on Thursday 15th
where a number of our U18 players are involved
with Copleston High School.
Until next season then!!
